The Holidays

I love the winter holiday season. Friends and family gathered together in a warm, cheerful home, forgetting the chill outside.  Savory cuisine fills the air as I decide which wine will best accent the offerings!  Needless to say, when my friends and family get together, we go through a lot of wine.  So when I find great values, I am not only happy for Corkscrew patrons, but for myself as well!  To find a wine that is affordable, drinkable with "wow, that's great" power; that's a wine lover's dream. Well, Domaine de L'Ameillaud 2009 VdP d'Orange is my dream wine.

The Wish
L'Ameillaud Grapes
Many of you may recognize the name of this producer.  I have worked with them since the inception of the Corkscrew back in 1996.  Consistently, they have released wines with soul, character, depth and complete drinkability.  Last spring when I was in France, I met with Nick and Sabine Thompson.  I tasted through their estate wines, and fell in love with one I had never tasted before; the one from Orange.  The wine was incredible.  I soon found out that this wine was only for people who visited their estate.  Well, I was determined to have this wine in the store for my customers to enjoy!  The wine just arrived in the shop a few weeks ago, and it is absolutely spectacular!

The Gift
L'Ameillaud Wines
So remember the old blend? Primarily Grenache with equal parts of Syrah and Carignan blended in to round out the fruits. This wine from Orange, has a higher percentage of Syrah, making the wine a bit brighter, a little smoother, but still as dangerously drinkable!

I brought home a couple cases for the holidays and I noticed this wine was the first to go! At a spectacular price of $9.50 per bottle, $8.55 when you buy a case, you don't want to miss having this dream wine at your holiday table!

Enjoy,

Laurent
