On Thursday, May 21, 2009, Latitude Lounge, the Princeton area’s newest meeting place located in the newly renovated The Westin Princeton at Forrestal Village, kicked off the summer in a very cool way with a Grand Opening Celebration of its Outdoor Patio.
Attended by nearly 100 local residents and businesspeople who came to relax and unwind, The Patio’s unique, comfortable outdoor lounge setting featured music, games, giveaways and complimentary wine and food samplings from Parallel 40, the area’s newest international dining experience. Highlighting the evening was the unveiling of Parallel 40’s new signature dessert and the start of the contest to name it.
The “Name The Best Sundae Ever!” contest, hosted by The Westin Princeton’s marketing firm, Hollyrock/Miller, is a competition to come up with the official name of this ultimate hot fudge sundae comprised of Princeton’s Famous Thomas Sweet’s Vanilla Ice Cream made with Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Extract. The actual bars of ice cream are exquisitely enrobed in 24 carat gold and covered with homemade Valrhona Chocolate Hot Fudge, whipped cream infused with 150 Year Old Grand Marnier and cherries. This incredible treat is available in 2 price levels –a $100 serving for 4; and the $1500 Champagne Stay that includes overnight accommodations in the Presidential Suite (subject to availability), a bottle of Dom Perignon and the $100 sundae serving for 4.
A more moderately priced $8 single-serving version comes without the 24 carat gold wrapping or Grand Marnier infusion.
The winner of “Name The Best Sundae Ever” will be entitled to the full $1500 Champagne Stay at The Westin Princeton. To enter, email your entry with your name, address and phone number to SundaeContest@HollyrockMiller.com. Entries must be received by Wednesday, June 24, 2009. The winning name will be announced on June 25, 2009.
Parallel 40 brings together uniquely diverse tastes from around the globe and fuses them into an irresistible mix of worldly cuisine designed to intrigue and satisfy the adventurous palate. “Parallel 40 combines the flavors of the most notable cuisines along the 40th parallel,” explains Marc Fournier, general manager of The Westin Princeton. “These cuisines are fused together and enhanced with Superfoods – those especially heart-healthy foods with anti-oxidants, such as blueberries, broccoli, avocadoes, strawberries, tomatoes, nuts, oats, salmon, soy and yogurt.”
Besides the new addition of Parallel 40, The Westin Princeton’s recent renovations also include a “We Proudly Serve Starbucks” coffee shop and Latitude Lounge. This increasing popular gathering spot features light fare and a variety of “elixirs” many of which are offered with Parallel 40 seasonings. Special wines are often available from 40th parallel countries, including Pinot Grigio from Italy and special wines from Spain and Argentina such as the wonderful full-bodied red, Gascon Malbec from Argentina, and the crisp, elegant white, Martin Codax Albarino from Spain. “Unwind”, Latitude Lounge’s Happy Hour, offers reduced-price drinks Monday through Friday from 6 to 8 with special themes each evening like “Wine Tasting” on Tuesdays or “Nintendo Wii Night” on Thursdays.
